GSU Baton Rouge Toastmasters
Club #4897, District 68
Meeting Each Monday at 7 p.m.
at the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center
Many people are afraid to speak in public, but there is much to be learned even by listening. Our club is a blend of new members, experienced Distinguished Toastmasters, and everything in between. The projects and meeting roles showcase a variety of techniques, styles, and skills. Your level of participation is purely up to you -- there are no minimum requirements for membership.
Nothing beats hands-on experience! Many opportunities are provided in our meetings, such as clearly-defined speaking projects and a multitude of meeting roles designed to involve as many people as possible. The Toastmasters program is flexible -- you choose activities to match your learning goals. Various forms of written and verbal evaluation make up a significant portion of our meeting, providing us with supportive and valuable feedback to help us improve.
Though Toastmasters activities are educational and beneficial for personal growth, our meetings are also enjoyable, with a healthy dose of humor! The speeches and reports are as diverse in personality as the people giving them. Many GSU members have commented that our meetings are a good place to relax and take a break from life's worries.
